Adding a lining to your drapery panel is a bit like wearing a slip under a dress.  The fabric hangs better, it has more body and there is no translucent see through. However, the most compelling reason to line your drapery panel is to protect the fabric from fading.  Our workroom has different lining options ranging from a poly cotton lining to a heavier Prima sateen or blackout.
